World of Warcraft: The War Within’s Warbands Feature Brings Account-Wide Changes
World of Warcraft players eagerly anticipating The War Within expansion should manage their expectations regarding the Warbands feature. While Warbands aims to make various aspects of the game shared account-wide, including achievements, currencies, and reputation, the latter won’t be as all-encompassing as initially anticipated.
Despite The War Within introducing a plethora of new content, the spotlight is on Warbands, a collective of smaller features designed to make many aspects of World of Warcraft universally accessible across accounts. This includes achievement progress, currencies, and reputation. However, the account-wide reputation change comes with a caveat. The War Within and subsequent expansions will implement shared reputation levels only for the newly introduced factions, leaving older factions out of the immediate picture.
Content creator MrGM clarified that legacy factions will not be part of this feature initially, emphasizing that while World of Warcraft aspires to eventually make all reputations account-wide, the transition will not be immediate. The pre-patch and launch of World of Warcraft: The War Within will maintain character-specific reputation levels for older factions.
Challenges arise in making old reputation levels account-wide in World of Warcraft, given the diverse reputation standings players have across multiple characters and worlds. Additionally, factions with conflicting interests, like Booty Bay and the Bloodsail Buccaneers from Vanilla or the Aldor and Scryers from The Burning Crusade, pose complexities for implementing account-wide reputation. Despite these obstacles, World of Warcraft signals its commitment to this change, suggesting that the shift towards account-wide reputations will likely commence with the Dragonflight Renown factions.
