Retro Vibes: Hyperkin Brings Back Classic Xbox Controller with ‘DuchesS
Accessory manufacturer Hyperkin is set to revive the nostalgia of the original Xbox era by reintroducing the classic “Controller S” gamepad. Known for its sleek design, the “Controller S” became an iconic peripheral for the Xbox, influencing subsequent controller designs and garnering a positive reception from fans. Hyperkin, renowned for reimagining the original Xbox “Duke” controller, is now unveiling the “DuchesS,” a modern iteration of the beloved gamepad.
Originally released in 2002, the “Controller S” aimed to address the criticisms of its predecessor, the bulky “Duke.” While the latter has gained popularity in recent years among nostalgic gamers, the slimmer and more user-friendly design of the “Controller S” became the standard for Xbox gamepads, leaving a lasting impression on the gaming community. Hyperkin, previously responsible for releasing updated versions of the original “Duke” controller, is now set to bring back the “Controller S” experience with the “DuchesS.”
The “DuchesS” will be available in two classic colors: matte black and an alternative white variant. Compatible with Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, as well as Windows 10 and 11, this retro-inspired gamepad will feature a Share button, USB-C port, and a 3.5mm headset jack, aligning it with modern Xbox Series controllers. Additionally, the “DuchesS” boasts Hall Effect joysticks and triggers, designed to offer increased durability and resistance against common wear and tear, addressing concerns such as joystick drifting over time. Hyperkin’s commitment to blending nostalgia with modern features is evident in the revival of the “Controller S” through the “DuchesS,” offering a familiar yet enhanced gaming experience for Xbox enthusiasts.
